Traveling the world can be fun and exciting, you get to meet new people and experience new places. One thing though that people wonder about is where to stay when you get to your destination. You could stay in a Hotel/motel but that can get pricey for long-term. You could also stay in a hostel which can be free or very inexpensive. Hostels can be great to meet people, but they can also be a bad thing, especially if you just need to get some sleep and a bunch of kids are there too, partying all night, not good. Another option is to House sit for locals, Here is a website I just discovered called HouseCarers . There are two options when you sign up, free and paid. There is no cost for the free option and your get the same emails from them of people needing someone to watch their house. The paid option is $50/yr. You can switch back and forth if needed. Some people even need people to watch their pets while they are gone instead of putting them in a kennel. This is perfect for bloggers and digital nomads who want to travel the world but don't want to pay the high cost of hotels. The travel  guide used to be a medium-sized, thick book that you would have to find space for in your already packed carry-on. Most of the time it would get ripped or worse lost at one of your layover airports because you had to take it out to get to something else and forgot to put it back in. Well, now in the day's of the smart phone or tablets, you can have a travel guide for every country and city you visit at the same time. Here are some apps that might be of interest for your next trip. 

These are all on the Google Play store for Android phones and tablets, but they all, also, have iOS (iPhone/Ipad) equivalent. Happy travels and stay safe. 

5 tips for those airport delays

A massive snow-storm has hit the East coast of the U.S. and with that comes many airport delays. Not just on the East coast but everywhere because of connecting flights not being able to take off, so it creates a mess everywhere for air travelers. So what to do while you are waiting for your flight? Here are a few tips to keep busy:
1. Walk. Simple, yes, but if you're healthy enough to walk, do it. You'll get your exercise in, most airports are big enough to walk from one end to the other. Your body will need it after sitting on the plane for so long.
2. Read. If you like to read and need a quite place find the airport chapel and go in and read a book. Just make sure you keep tabs on the time of your plane's departure.
3. People watch. Not in a creepy way but just watch people go by from a bar/restaurant, alway's entertaining if your in the right airport, say vegas ;) .
4. Sightsee. If you have a longer delay and are not in a snowed-in airport, take a taxi and see the sights of the city.
5. 1-day pass. Get a 1-day pass for the Airline club. They can be a great place to have a drink or find a quite place to get some work done, and usually have an outlet to charge your laptop/tablet/phone in comfort without huddling  around a pillar on the main concourse.

Spring break

Spring break is just around the corner. Soon, millions of people will be taking 1-2 weeks off to go somewhere warm, to escape the cold and work. But when they get to their vacation spot, it turns out to be more stressful for they try and do everything in a short period of time. The NR way to travel is to go for a month or two, rent a house or condo. This way you can actually save money and really get to see the area through a locals view point. As for the work thing, not every job can, but most jobs, technically can be done remotely. If you can't or management is stubborn and say's no, then go two weeks and pace your self. Not just Casino signs

There are many signs on the Strip aka. Las Vegas Blvd. However, not all of them want you to gamble your money away. Another popular thing for some tourist to do in Las Vegas is to get married at the spur of the moment. For that there are many little wedding chapels up and down the strip. Even casino's are trying to get in on it by having chapel's within the casino. This chapel is one of the more famous Wedding chapels and is at the South end of the Strip next to McCarren Airport, across from the famous Las Vegas sign. After people have their picture taken in front of the Las Vegas sign some cross the street and snap a picture of them selves in from of this one. It is surrounded by green grass, which looks like an oasis because it is surrounded by desert like sand/stones.

Another popular place in the middle of the strip is the Harley-Davidson cafe, which has this enormous sign on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Harmon. The cafe also has a gift shop with all kinds of Harley memorable gifts. It is a popular place for bikers to come and hangout and people-watch after cruising the strip, and yes there is parking for your bike as well. 

Signs of Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV is a city of lights and glitter. There are many casinos from the strip, to downtown, to the off-the-strip casinos geared more to locals. With these casinos comes signs, advertising to the tourist and gamblers to come in and play. There have been many signs in Las Vegas, they come and go. There's even a sign grave yard, north of Downtown, where old signs go to rest. The new signs now have lcd screens flashing videos to people on the streets, basically a TV commercial, but there are some that still have that Classic Vegas look. I have taken as many photos of these Vegas signs as I could, before they go to the grave yard, or worse, destroyed.

 The Glass pool inn has been closed for a while, but the sign and building was standing until the property was sold. Like many properties on the Strip they are very valuable and when someone with a lot of money comes in and offers these property owners a lucrative deal, they usually take it.

The MGM sign is an example of the modern signs of Las Vegas. It's enormous size clearly states this is a Grand Casino/hotel including the LCD TV screen that can be seen all the way down the strip.

Hello World

I've had this domain name http://jetsett.in for a while now and have finally decided to do something with it. I have traveled half the world with the US Navy on board the USS Independence CV-62. I am looking to travel the rest of it as a civilian and really see everywhere. I will be posting my journey's here, as well as tips, tricks, deals and other people's journey's.
